If for some reason you'd love to get a speeding ticket, you should plan a trip to Illinois. There is proof that the Land of Lincoln is one of the hotspots in America for getting busted for speeding.
Full disclosure: I used to play racquetball with a couple of Illinois State patrolmen years ago. I asked them if it was true that you could drive 5mph over the speed limit without getting a ticket, they laughed - hard. They would also likely be very amused at a new conversation I found on the Illinois sub-Reddit. It's a map showing where you're most likely to get a speeding ticket. Notice that Illinois is very blue.
I was able to verify on Rate Genius that Illinois ranks high for speeding tickets, but not quite as high as Wisconsin. Sorry, Packer fans.
The comments on Reddit point fingers at the traffic cameras in the Chicago suburbs and especially Elk Grove for being responsible for Illinois having a reputation for handing out speeding tickets. I've seen fairly aggressive monitoring of I-172 between Quincy and Hannibal and east toward Springfield. By the way, I'm not complaining. If you're breaking the law, you need to pay the piper. I was in a high-speed accident once and never speed anymore because of it. If one of these speeding tickets cause someone to slow down and maybe save their life and/or others, I'm all for it.
