Clifford "Click" Finholdt, 83, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.
Cliff was born September 21, 1941 in Austin, Minnesota to Roland and Mary (Diekema) Finholdt. On February 17th 1962 he was united in marriage to Joyce True and from that union Scott and Susan were born. He joined the custodial staff at Austin Public Schools in November 1966 as a groundsman at the athletic field and then custodian at Ellis Middle School and Austin High School. He enjoyed his work and had high standards for himself and his co-workers, positively impacting the buildings he worked in.
In his spare time, Cliff loved to take his dog Trixie for drives, fishing, working in his yard and wood working. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and Florida with friends and family and enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports and was very proud of each and every one of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joyce Prehn and Julie Corkill; brothers, Ronald, Robert and James Finholdt.
Cliff is survived by his son, Scott Finholdt of Red Wing; his daughter, Sue (Trent) Rutledge of Austin; grandchildren, Ryan (Constance) Bye, Nicholas (Kelli) Finholdt, Emma Crowley, Madison Crowley, Ashlie Finholdt, and Marcus Finholdt; step granddaughter, Elizabeth Rutledge; great grandchildren, Cale Finholdt and Layton Finholdt; sisters, Grace "Patti" Finholdt of Bradenton, FL, Susan (Kenneth) Dunn of Bellville, IL, and Rosemary Finholdt of Columbus, OH; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1st at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with Reverend Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
