AKRON, Ohio - Dr. Sara Lee has joined Akron Children's as director of medical education, designated institutional official, and vice chair of education for the Department of Pediatrics.
Lee comes to Akron Children's from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), where she has been serving as assistant vice president and chief health officer since 2022. Her responsibilities included the medical and mental health care of students and leading public health initiatives for faculty, students and staff. She helped lead the university's COVID-19 response and expanded mental health resources.
In her new role, Lee will oversee all aspects of medical education for 1,300 medical staff, ensuring the integration of the hospital's academic mission with clinical practice and research, in accordance with the standards set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and other national accreditation bodies.
After completing medical school at CWRU, Lee completed her pediatrics residency at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital (UHRBC) and a fellowship in adolescent medicine at UHRBC and MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
