India: 5 workers, incl. 4 migrants, die due to exposure to toxic fumes at co. Emami Agro Tech; investigation launched; incl. co comment - Business & Human Rights Resource Centre

In October, it was reported that five workers, including four migrant workers, died due to exposure to toxic fumes while cleaning a waste fluid tank at the company Emami Agro Tech in Kandla, India.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

Emami Agro Tech's HR representative told journalists that the company alerted responsible authorities, and that it will provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh (around USD 11,800) to the families of each victim, and legal support".
