SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man riding a bicycle was fatally struck by a suspected DUI driver in Black Mountain Ranch Friday evening, authorities confirmed.
Officials with the San Diego Police Department said the incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. when a 50-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Volkswagen EOS westbound on Camino Del Sur.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver crossed the intersection with Casey Glen and went into the bike lane, colliding with a man who was riding his bicycle. Police said the man, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on their preliminary investigation, police believe alcohol was a factor in this fatal incident. Anyone with information related to the collision is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
