WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) - Fly The Whale, a US scheduled air carrier based in New Haven, Conn. will now be offering flights from Westerly to Block Island.
Starting November 4, Fly the Whale will be offering four daily round trips from Westerly to Block Island from Monday through Friday.
The cost of the flight will be $75.
The on-demand aircraft charter currently offers services in the Northeast, Florida, and The Bahamas.
According to Fly the Whale President Omer ErSelcuk, the company saw the opportunity to add service in a market which is growing quickly both in the short and long term.
ErSeluk said before making that decision, they checked closely with the Block Island Chamber of Commerce to understand the current and future needs.
"It is our hope to work with existing operators both on the ferry side and traditional airport service to provide additional options for customers so it is easier and more convenient to get to and from Block Island for business, especially the trade firms, full time and part residents who go back and forth, and leisure travelers," he told ABC6.
