If you live in Maine, there are a few stereotypes that will follow you around no matter what you do. Those stereotypes include the idea that you must love and eats lots of lobster. That you must exclusively wear L.L. Bean attire. And of course, that everyone in Maine probably has a pet moose.
We all know none of that is true.
In fact, the majority of people who call Maine home will never see a moose in their lifetime. Despite being big and burly, moose are rather elusive. But if you're desperate to see one in the wild, there is a place in Vacationland that can probably help with that.
The Travel put together a list of a handful of spots across the country where you could likely encounter a moose in the wild. Unsurprisingly, they landed on an incredibly small town in Maine to top the list.
That would be Kokadjo, a town of just a few people that sits along the Baxter State Park road. The Kokadjo Trading Post is where you want to head if you a moose lover but have no idea where to start. The Moosehead Lake region is sprawling and can be a bit overwhelming.
While Maine is synonymous with moose, another New England state is known to have a health population as well. That would be Vermont where the small town of Canaan also makes The Travel's list of the best places in the country to see a wild moose.
