Letter to the editor: Harris presidency would cause agent exodus

I read this week in the New York Post that border patrol agents are saying they will resign if Kamala Harris win the presidential election. One agent said a Harris presidency would mean "four more years of hell." Another said, "Lots of guys who can retire will go. If Trump wins, they'll stay."

Imagine how demoralized these federal employees must be to reach this breaking point. Theirs is a coveted federal job that after a few years of employment can earn a person a six-figure salary with enviable benefits and perks -- yet these guys can't make it to the mandatory 20-year retirement benchmark.

This is a national security issue that must be addressed before the election. The voters need to know that if Harris wins, the dangerous open border situation that has allowed thousands of murderers, rapists and terrorist to roam freely in the country will become even more dire because of a lack of experienced manpower.

When voting, we must remember the video images of Biden, Harris, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, etc., telling us the border was safe and secure from 2021 to 2024. Now juxtapose these images with the hard truth that border agents are threatening to give up their highly prized jobs because they've become so demoralized.
