Hailey Van Lith made her debut with the TCU women's basketball team on Tuesday, showing out in a matchup versus Houston Christian.
The guard was one of just two Horned Frog players to total double figures, joining the team's leading scorer Sedona Price.
Van Lith made the move to Fort Worth after spending last year with the LSU Tigers. Prior to that, she played at Louisville. She's been a highly accomplished player at the college level, which landed her an Olympic invite this past summer.
Her talents were again on display Tuesday night.
HVL filled up the stat sheet in Game 1, notching 21 points, seven assists, and five boards on 43% shooting. She also tallied a career-high six steals.
After the game, she was asked about that debut by a TCU reporter. She had to check him on his numbers in her response!
A question was posed around supposed career bests that were recorded in that first game as a Horned Frog. There was only one problem - she failed to match her personal records in all but one category!
This was her first six-steal performance. She fell one assist shy of tying a career mark, and eight points shy in scoring.
"A career-high at TCU?" she sarcastically asked when it was suggested that her 35 minutes were the most she'd ever played in a game. "Thirty-five minutes? That's wrong. Maybe at LSU I didn't play 35, but..."
As it turns out, she's actually played more than 35 minutes on 50 occasions spanning across her time at LSU and Louisville. She simply refuses to come off the court!
Van Lith did set a new best in one category. It wasn't minutes played! That said, she shined in her TCU debut while leading the Horned Frogs to a big win.
