RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) - A South Carolina elementary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly slapping a student, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).
Officials say the incident happened on Oct. 9, when April Lowe, a first-grade teacher at Ridgeland Elementary School, allegedly slapped a 6-year-old student in the face.
The JCSO was called to the school after the incident, and Lowe was arrested on Oct. 11.
Officials say Lowe is currently released on bond.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Jasper County School District.
