Boulder office invites youth to submit artwork

Boulder's Office of the Independent Police Monitor is seeking artists ages 18 and under to participate in an art contest.

The theme for this year's competition is "unity through accountability," a concept that explores how police accountability can strengthen the relationship between communities and law enforcement, according to a news release.

Young artists are encouraged to express their creativity through painting, drawing, illustration or mixed media to reflect the theme. The contest is open to all youth who live or attend school in the city of Boulder.

The winner will receive a $100 Downtown Boulder gift card and have their art featured on the cover of Boulder's 2024 Police Oversight Annual Report. Top entries will be displayed at Gelato Boy at 1021 Pearl St. during Boulder Arts Week.

Submissions are due March 21. For more information or to download the entry form, visit bouldercolorado.gov/police-oversight-art-contest.

Boulder's Office of the Independent Police Monitor and the Police Oversight Panel were established by City Council in February 2021, according to a city document.
