Paul Finebaum Names 'Best Team in the Country' After Upset-Filled Weekend

The most chaotic weekend of the 2024 college football season happened in Week 13 as seven ranked teams fell.

Five of the top 15 teams in the country, who all had eyes on the College Football Playoff, lost on Saturday in what will provide a massive shakeup in the rankings. No. 5 Indiana, No. 7 Alabama, No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 14 BYU and No. 15 Texas A&M all lost on the penultimate week of the regular season.

Of the five, Indiana is the team with the most-likely chance to make the playoff - with ESPN naming the Hoosiers a virtual lock for the postseason tournament. As the season comes to a close with one final regular season game this weekend, ESPN's Paul Finebaum was asked if he believes current No. 1 Oregon is still the title favorite.

Not only did he say no, but he doesn't think the Ducks are even the best team in the Big Ten.

Despite its loss to Oregon earlier in the season, Finebaum likes the Ohio State Buckeyes as the best team in the country.

"I don't think Oregon is even the best team in the Big Ten, let alone the favorite to win it all," Finebaum said. "And thanks, Ducks fans waking up on the West Coast, I'm aware that you beat Ohio State. But Ohio State, to me, looks like the best team in the country."

"I think they'll have a fun game in a couple of weeks in the Big Ten Championship Game," Finebaum added. "They both are going to go to the Playoffs and be in very good shape. But Oregon, to me, looks a tad below Ohio State."

Ohio State closes the season with 'The Game' against Michigan while Oregon will face off against the Washington Huskies before the teams likely square off in the Big Ten title game.
