Two men were arrested after a chaotic scene outside an overcrowded sporting event in Wilmington on Saturday night, according to city police.
The event, promoted by Philadelphia rap artist Nasir "Gillie da Kid" Fard and internet personality Wallace "Wallo" Peeples, escalated when police confronted an unruly crowd that damaged property and assaulted an officer, police said.
Johnnie English, 37, and Zamir McNeely-Coles, 28, both from Philadelphia, were taken into custody. English was charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest but was later released after being issued a criminal summons. McNeely-Coles faced a charge of offensive touching and was released on his own recognizance after a hearing at Justice of the Peace Court 11.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at Chase Fieldhouse, located on the 400 block of Garasches Lane, during the KO Party event broadcast live on BXNG TV. With over 4,000 attendees admitted and the venue at full capacity, police reported that individuals turned away sparked several physical altercations.
Police reported that individuals attempted to force their way into the building, threw objects and pulled on doors. During the disorder, one person shattered a glass door and another knocked down a police officer. No injuries were reported among officers or civilians.
