Recall of meat, poultry products widens because of Listeria fears

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Yu Shang Food Inc. has greatly expanded its recall of products suspected of Listeria contamination, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The Spartanburg, South Carolina, business is recalling approximately 72,240 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products within their shelf life that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Two weeks ago, the company recalled 4,589 pounds of the products.

All of the company's ready-to-eat products produced prior to Oct. 28 are subject to recall. Here's the full list of almost two dozen products.

The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide and available for purchase online.

They bear establishment number P-46684 or EST. M46684 inside the USDA inspection mark.

Working in conjunction with public health partners, FSIS determined that there is a link between the meat and poultry products from Yu Shang Food Inc. and an illness cluster.

Consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.

Anyone who has bought the products is urged to throw them away or return them to place of purchase.
