A 39-year-old woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on the southbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills was identified Wednesday.
The crash was reported at 12:12 a.m. Saturday and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the freeway near the Winnetka Avenue off-ramp where they found a silver BMW and a black BMW, both with significant damage and several large pieces of debris blocking multiple lanes, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Candy La Torre Zapata was found beneath one of the vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure the southbound freeway at Winnetka for several hours while they investigate the cause of the collision.
