South Plainfield wins three weight classes to take Morris Knolls title - Wrestling

South Plainfield won three individual titles to win the team race at the Morris Knolls Tournament.

The Tigers scored 148.5 points while second-place Warren Hills tallied 128 points. Montville came in third with 125.5.

South Plainfield came up strong in the middleweights by appearing in all finals bouts between 138 and 157 and winning three.

Anthony Mateo took the 144-pound crown for the Tigers with a 14-12 decision over Sparta's Sean Brown. Ryan Baletn teched Brearley's John Cipriano in the 150-pound title and Jose Rodriguez won the 157-pound bracket with a 14-8 major over Brearley's Ryder Vorndran.

Warren Hills won 120, 146 and 132 behind wins from Augie Szamreta, Charlie Piccione, and Davey Rhinehart.

Montville also had three champs in Sean Elsmore (215), Luke Manieri (113) and Dominick Kraemer (190).

Sparta's Ryan Hrenenko (138), Hackettstown's Steven Vidal (106), and West Morris' Thomas Borgia (285) also won titles while Luke Shivas won the 165-pound bracket for the hosting Golden Eagles.
