WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY NEWS) -- The 11th Annual Taste of Wrightsville Beach competition has announced the winners in from this year's event.
The Taste of Wrightsville Beach was started 12 years ago as an idea to celebrate the diverse culinary offerings on the island. It also serves as a reminder that the restaurants need support during the winter months when the tourists are gone.
Best Overall Savory: Beach Bagels & Subs -Havana 'Nana mojo pork, marinated onions, plantans and spicy cilantro sauce.
Runner up Savory: Oceanic -Crispy pork belly, micro green salad, pomegranate and butternut squash puree.
Best Overall Sweet: Solstice Kitchen and Cocktails -Crab cake-lump crab cake, fried tomato pimento cheese and lime aioli.
Runner up Overall Sweet: Sweet n Savory Cafe - Bailey's salted caramel chocolate cake.
Best tasting Savory: Bluewater Waterfront Grill - Pork Carnitas Taco - corn tortilla topped with Mexican street corn, pickled onions and smoked chipotle aioli.
Best tasting Sweet: Solstice Kitchen and Cocktails - Coconut delight cheesecake.
Best Presentation Savory: King Neptune Wrightsville Beach -Wagyu Meatballs with Thai basil pesto, pepitas, fried basil, parmesan and cilantro microgreens.
Most Creative Sweet: Beach Bagels & Subs - Smoothie -Appley Ever After: it has Caramel, Apples, Apple Juice, Cream Cheese and Graham Crackers.
